Plot:
Liu Jian (Jet Li) เจ้าหน้าที่รัฐบาลระดับสูงของจีน จำเป็นต้องเดินทางจากเซี่ยงไฮ้ มายังกรุงปารีส เพื่อปฏิบัติภารกิจสำคัญลับสุดยอด การมาปารีสของ Liu ในครั้งนี้ เพื่อช่วยเหลือ Jean-Pierre Richard (Tcheky Karyo) เจ้าหน้าที่ตำรวจพฤติกรรมแปลก ที่มีเพียงอาวุธเล็กน้อยเท่านั้น ที่ช่วยเสริมกำลังเขาอยู่ ทว่า ภารกิจครั้งนี้กลับเลวร้ายยิ่งขึ้นไปอีก เมื่อคนที่ Liu มาเพื่อช่วยเหลือนั้น กลับเป็นคนทรยศต่อเขาเอง
Liu ตกอยู่ในสถานการณ์อันตราย ภายใต้แผนการอุบาทว์ เขาถูกกล่าวหาว่าเป็นฆาตกร ทั้งๆ ที่ไม่ได้มีส่วนรู้เห็นใดๆ เลย และจำต้องหลบหนีอยู่ในเมืองที่เขาแทบจะไม่รู้จักอะไรเลยด้วย ท่ามกลางสถานการณ์เลวร้ายเช่นนี้ Liu ก็ได้พบกับหญิงสาวชาวอเมริกันคนหนึ่ง เธอชื่อ Jessica(Bridget Fonda) ซึ่งถูก Richard บังคับให้เป็นโสเภณี และเมื่อทั้ง Jessica และ Liu ถูกตามล่าโดยศัตรูผู้สัตว์เลื้อยคลานมโหด และกลับกลอก ซึ่งกำลังจัดฉากให้คนทั้งคู่หลงเข้ากับดักทีละขั้นตอนนั่นเอง Liu ก็ให้สัญญาว่าจะช่วยเหลือ Jessica แม้ว่าคำสัญญานั้นจะสั่นคลอนอาชีพการงานของเขา หรือแม้แต่ชีวิตของเขาเองก็ตาม
